• Washington state will provide $350K to support Portal Space System's satellite factory in Bothell (geekwire.com) — A new 50,000-square-foot satellite factory is coming to Bothell, backed by $350,000 in state economic development funds and a promise of hundreds of new jobs over the next few years. Portal Space Systems plans to scale up production of its Supernova spacecraft here, aiming to build four satellites a month by 2027. State officials say the project strengthens both Bothell’s economy and Washington’s growing space industry.
   

• Western Washington faces 'catastrophic' flooding as two atmospheric rivers dump heavy rain (kuow.org) — As catastrophic flooding threatens much of Western Washington, FEMA has activated a 24-hour communications hub in Bothell to coordinate information between federal, state, and tribal agencies. Gov. Bob Ferguson has declared a statewide emergency and requested expedited federal aid, warning that up to 100,000 residents could face evacuation orders. Officials say back-to-back atmospheric rivers are pushing several rivers toward historic flood levels.
