• Winter project at Bremerton ferry terminal to trim back some runs (kitsapsun.com) — Regular Bremerton–Seattle ferry riders will see a slimmed-down winter schedule as construction at the Bremerton Ferry Terminal replaces two docking pilings and prevents two boats from tying up overnight. Beginning Dec. 28, 2025 through March 21, 2026, one early weekday and one Sunday morning sailing will be cut, with normal spring sailings expected to resume March 22.
   

• In Port Orchard, a new shelter shows a model that gets people housed (kitsapsun.com) — Bremerton’s Salvation Army shelter and a proposed Sheridan Road facility are central to how the city is trying to expand year‑round beds for unhoused residents, even as long-term funding remains uncertain. A new 75-bed continuous-stay shelter in Port Orchard is showing promising results, but Kitsap County data and recent deaths in Bremerton highlight an urgent need for more permanent shelter options close to home.
   

• Kitsap OBGYN 'fortunate' to find partner in tribe amid economic woes (kitsapsun.com) — Women’s health care in Kitsap County is under strain, and Naval Hospital Bremerton’s 2022 labor-and-delivery closure has pushed even more births onto a shrinking pool of civilian OB-GYNs. Kitsap OBGYN, which never capped Medicaid patients, was on the brink financially until the Suquamish Tribe acquired the practice, a move doctors say will keep essential pregnancy care accessible for local families.
