We Banjo 3 is one of the most prolific and exciting bands to emerge from Ireland in recent years. Featuring banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, percussion and beautiful harmonies, We Banjo 3’s music is affectionately described as “Celtgrass.” The Galway-based quartet comprises two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley, who collectively hold over a dozen “All Ireland” titles. We Banjo 3 released their fourth studio recording, Haven, on July 27, 2018, as the follow up to their highly-acclaimed 2016 release, String Theory, which went to # 1 on Billboard’s World Music Chart. We Banjo 3’s unique crossover of many genres of music is beautifully reflected on Haven; the 11 original compositions take the listener an exploratory, honest and uplifting musical journey.Haven reached # 1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Chart for 2 weeks as well charting on several others. The video for the single “Light In The Sky” premiered on CMT.com on August 30th. Haven has received rave reviews. AXS.com said, “Their blend of Celtic and bluegrass with dashes of folk-pop, and country is perfectly suited for the Americana scene. Their songs fall comfortably into The Lumineers style of earnest folk pop anthems."
Skerryvore is an eight piece band whose eclectic fusion of rock, pop and traditional music with an emphatic thundering of drums and bagpipes is as rich as a single malt scotch. With their outstanding musicianship and the mesmerizing voice of award-winning singer-songwriter, Alec Dalglish, Skerryvore has become an international sensation. Twice winners of Scotland’s Traditional Music Awards coveted “Live Act of the Year” (2011 and 2016), Skerryvore has pleased audiences since 2005 not only throughout Scotland and the UK, but worldwide with the band having performed in over 25 countries. The band is touring behind its 7th album, Evo, which was released in June of 2018 in conjunction with the band’s own Oban Live festival in Scotland which attracted over 10,000 attendees this year. Evo, which mixes originals with select cover songs, runs the gauntlet from big blast numbers to heartfelt reflective tracks.
Each show on the tour will feature a set from each band, and conclude in a combined fiery finale begging the audience to decide, “Which is better, bagpipes or the banjo?"
