Snow, Then Rain In Snohomish County This Week

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA - A mixture of snow and freezing rain is on the menu this week across the region, adding to dangerous road conditions and a variety of disrupted services — from garbage and transit to city offices and court.

According to the Seattle Weather Blog, this winter's snowfall is currently measured at just more than 14 inches at Sea-Tac — which is 3 inches more than the storm of 2016-17, and 9 inches less than the most recent big storm of 2008-09; and apparently more is on the way.

The National Weather Service on Monday issued a winter weather advisory through 6 p.m., when between 1 to 3 inches of new snow accumulation will transition to rain. Higher elevations, of course, may not see that transition and instead continue to see snow.

High winds up to 15 mph are expected throughout the region as well, bringing also a wind chill between 25 and 30 degrees.

Daytime highs this week are expected to steadily increase from the low 30s Monday to the low 40s by Friday, with some form of precipitation expected every day as far out as the forecast extends.

Overnight lows will continue to drop below freezing at least through Sunday; Wednesday night may be the coldest with a forecast low of 26 degrees.
