Mayor's State Of The City Address Set For Tuesday

Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro will update the community with information about the forthcoming year as well as reflect on successes in 2018.

ENUMCLAW, WA - Mayor Jan Molinaro will deliver his State of the City address next Tuesday and the community is encouraged to attend and celebrate 2018's accomplishments and see what to expect in 2019.

"I will be reviewing accomplishments that each department in the city achieved in 2018, highlighting some of the major ones in each," Molinaro told Patch in an email. "In doing a State of the City, I felt this to be a way to communicate and review with the citizens in more detail what has been done on their behalf by their local government and reflect how this leads to potential goals for 2019."

Attending the State of the City event, Molinaro explained, will either remind or reveal to community members how Enumclaw has improved over the past year as well as prepare them for the forthcoming year.

"Having organized the Citizens Advisory Commission for the Aquatic Center and having them provide recommendations to council, was an important step in providing information to determine the direction for the pool," Molinaro said, describing a couple of the highlights from 2018 he intends to discuss during his address. "Another accomplishment was being able to promote from within the police department for our current police chief, who was Captain at the time, and restructuring the department to have commander positions, (which) should provide some long term stability for the Police Department."

The mayor's address will be delivered at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 1339 Griffin Ave. in Enumclaw.
