Girl Scouts of Western Washington is excited to honor three inspiring women at the Pierce Women of Distinction Luncheon on May 9, 2012, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma.
We will honor: Mary Armstrong, retired vice president of Environment, Health and Safety for the Boeing Company; Lori Augino, chief deputy auditor for Pierce County; and Haley Dee Iselin, marketing and administrative manager for Metal Roof Specialties. All three women have turned their Girl Scout experiences into successful life accomplishments, which is something worth celebrating!
2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts! We’re celebrating the fact that virtually every woman who has ever gone into space was a Girl Scout. We’re applauding the fact that over 70 percent of all women who have ever served in our nation’s Congress were Girl Scouts. And, of all the women CEOs and business owners, 80 percent were Girl Scouts. And, girls who stay in Girl Scouting for at least five years have radically reduced risks of getting into trouble or dropping out of school!

Today’s Girl Scouts are learning to make their own animation; they're encouraged to try their hand at product design, public speaking and car care; they are creating business plans. Thanks to the leadership and support of women like Armstrong, Augino and Iselin, it’s even more possible for girls to envision the ways in which they can use their skills to make an impact in the world!
