Despite Shutdown, Derek Kilmer Leads Gig Harborites on Tour of Capitol
The Washington lawmaker gave a tour of the Capitol to Dennis, Kelsey, and JoLee Ford of Gig Harbor.

Although the government shutdown has brought visitation to many national points of interests to a grinding halt, at least one Gig Harbor lawmaker is working to make sure trips to Washington D.C. aren't a total bust.
Derek Kilmer posted the following on his Facebook page, where describes his visit withΒ Dennis, Kelsey, and JoLee Ford go Gig Harbor.
"Iβm fighting to end the shutdown because it is hurting our economy and creating real hardship for folks in our region. The shutdown has also had an impact on those who had planned a family vacation to our Nationβs Capital, only to find that the museums, monuments, and public buildings are all closed. As a Member of Congress I can still escort guests into the Capitol, so I reached out to some families from our neck of the woods and offered to give them a tour during their stay here in DC. Thanks to the Fords from Gig Harbor and the Schuenemanns from Sequim for spending some time with me today. Hope I was an all right tour guide!"
Amazing. Something that people actually looked forward to in D.C., actually got accomplished. What a concept!
