Recess Monkey is a Seattle trio of elementary school teachers who perform rock music for kids. Families are invited to visit the playground and check out the old schoolhouse auditorium which will be decked out with paper lanterns for a festive afternoon with live music.
Recess Monkey shows are enjoyed nationwide by kids and parents alike. After their concert on Fox Island, they will be touring in Maryland and Virginia. "RECESS MONKEY: If Seattle is the new bastion of kindie rockers, then the trio of elementary school teachers — Jack Forman, Daron Henry and Drew Holloway — are the city's breakout stars."– Time Magazine

The FI playground was built in 1999 by Island residents and is owned and maintained by the Fox Island Community Recreation Association.
FICRA volunteers take care to keep this playground clean and safe for our community, but continued support is needed. Every year FICRA holds Spring and Fall Clean Up days to help keep the playground sparkling clean and safe for our kids.
On September 29th 30 Island volunteers trimmed branches, painted outbuildings, spread fresh wood chips on the play area, pressure washed sidewalks, and spread bark on the planting beds to help winterize the playground and grounds of the Nichols Community Center.
Proceeds from the concert will help to pay for more woodchips for the play area and support continued maintenance of the playground toys. The Fox Island Playground is open from dawn to dusk every day.Â
