
People will learn about noted American aviation pioneer and author Amelia Earhart during a free event at Gig Harbor Pierce County Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Drive N.W., on Saturday, July 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
At 11:15 a.m., the film, “The Final Hours: Amelia Earhart’s Last Flight,” will air as part of the event.
Archivist Dave Bellarts will share his Amelia Earhart memorabilia, tell stories from her fateful final flight, and give out free copies of radio logs from her flights. Bellarts’ father was the last person to hear from Earhart and her navigator.

Participants will also talk with Ron Bright, one of the top Amelia Earhart researchers in the U.S., and David Bowman, an author who investigates the mysteries of Earhart’s disappearance in his book, “Legerdemain.”
Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean during an attempt to make a flight around the world in 1937. Fascination with her life, career and disappearance continues to this day.
