Gig Harbor Brewing Opening Actual Gig Harbor Taproom

Gig Harbor's namesake brewer has so far been based in Tacoma.

GIG HARBOR, WA - The founders of Gig Harbor Brewing are well aware it's a little strange the brewery is located in Tacoma and not in, you know, Gig Harbor. In fact, they said they'd be "retired on Fox Island" if they had a dollar for every time someone asked about it.

Soon, that won't be a question any longer. The brewer is planning to open a taproom in downtown Gig Harbor by spring 2018.

The brewery was founded in 2015 in Tacoma (3120 South Tacoma Way) for practical reasons: cheaper industrial space and easier distribution. The beer will still be brewed in Tacoma, but the Gig Harbor taproom will serve all the same brews on tap in Tacoma.

The taproom will be located adjacent to Skansie Brothers Park in the Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard. The owners hope to open between April and May.

β€œThis space is perfect,” owner John Fosberg said in a press release. β€œIn the heart of Gig Harbor β€” next to Skansie Brothers Park and the water β€” along Harborview Drive. Exactly where we wanted to be.”
