Gig Harbor Civic Center Reopens To The Public

The news means residents can once again conduct city business and attend City Council meetings in-person.

GIG HARBOR, WA — The Gig Harbor Civic Center has reopened to the public.

The civic center had been closed for more than a year because of the pandemic, but has now reopened its doors to the public — with a few safety precautions.

Visitors who are not vaccinated will be required to wear facial coverings and practice safe social distancing while inside the building or any other City of Gig Harbor facilities. The City will provide masks as necessary for visitors, but if that is not acceptable the city says business can still be conducted virtually, over email or over the phone.

The Gig Harbor Civic Centers reopening also means the public can once attend City Council's regular business meetings, held the second and fourth Monday of each month in Council Chambers. Though residents are welcome to come down to the civic center for public comment, the city says they will also continue to stream meetings and take virtual public comments via Zoom.

Gig Harbor's decision to reopen city facilities follows similar reopenings in other Pierce County jurisdictions like Bonney Lake and Puyallup.
