Gig Harbor Drivers Should Watch For 'Critter Crossings'

Watch out of these hot spots where local pets and animals cross streets.

GIG HARBOR, WA - Drivers and bicyclists aren't the only ones who use local roads - pets and other critters do too.

Wildlife rescue worker and Gig Harbor resident Catherine Angela Hughes says that she's observed some habits among local pets and animals crossing streets in the city, and she wants drivers and other road users to be aware of them.

Here are some recent "critter crossings" Hughes has noticed:

  • Along Drummond Drive Northwest - which connects Molle Drive and Crescent Valley Drive near Sunrise Beach - there is a gray cat with white markings that crosses the road at night hunting mice
  • Along Vernhardson Street across from Crescent Park there's a fluffy Siamese cat that crosses the street every night around 9:40 p.m.
  • Along Hallstrom Drive Northwest, several juvenile deer cross the road between 8 and 8:50 a.m. each day
