Gig Harbor Fire Running Large-Scale Training Event Wednesday

You may notice a crowd of first responders in the Gig Harbor Marina Wednesday, but firefighters say not to worry.

GIG HARBOR, WA β€” Gig Harbor Fire and local police are warning residents ahead of time of a major training event that will occupy a portion of the marina Wednesday.

As organizers explain, Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One will be conducting a large-scale training event in the marina from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Crews will be simulating a marina fire, with multiple boats ablaze and several trapped victims. The fire boat Endeavor from West Pierce Fire & Rescue will also be a part of the training.

During training, neighbors can expect to see a large fire response, plus smoke and a few participants acting as victims, but Gig Harbor Police are asking everyone not to panic, as it's only a simulation.
