Hoover had served with Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One since 2009. Over the course of her career, she broke a lot of ground: Hoover was their first career female firefighter and first female paramedic. She also worked as Gig Harbor Fire's EMT course coordinator, Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor, and had been recognized as EMS Provider of the Year.

Outside of work, Gig Harbor Fire says she enjoyed hiking and snowboarding with her son, and spending time with her German Shepherds.
However, Eliza was much more than a Firefighter/Paramedic. She loved snowboarding with her son, hiking, and spending time with her German Shepherds. She deeply loved her family, treated others with kindness, and was our friend. We will miss her greatly.
