Gig Harbor Seeks Volunteer For Design Review Board

The board is tasked with determining which properties qualify for historic preservation, among other issues.

GIG HARBOR, WA — The City of Gig Harbor is looking for a volunteer to step up and join the Gig Harbor Design Review Board.

Design Review Board members serve three-year terms, and are tasked with interpreting, reviewing and implementing the city's design manual. They also represent the State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, and help determine which local properties may qualify for preservation.

Unlike some other city boards, Design Review Board members can live outside Gig Harbor city limits. However, they must be one of the following:

  • A licensed architect or professional building designer with experience in urban or historic building design.
  • A city resident who is interested in and knowledgeable about urban design.
  • Someone who has a professional background relating to urban design, like an artist, civil engineer, designer, planner or building contractor.
  • Someone with knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, or forestry.
  • Someone with a background in identifying and protecting historic resources.
