Labor Day: What's Closed, What's Open

Labor Day is Monday, and the three-day weekend means plenty of places will be closed.

It also means there will be ceremonies and celebrations throughout the community.

Here is a list of things you need to know:

Closures

• Government offices, including all federal, state, Pierce County and the  (including  and )
• U.S. Post Office
• Express delivery companies: FedEx and UPS will also be closed.
• : Both  and 
• Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed. Check your local branch.
• : Closed. First day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Open

• American/D.M./Murrey's Disposal: Regular pick up schedule. (Office closed.)
• Pierce Transit: Will operate on a Sunday schedule. Routes without Sunday service will not run on Labor Day. No phone service.
• : 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. (There will be no registered classes or camps. Exercise classes will follow a holiday schedule.)
• Most stores and restaurants will be open as normal.
• Tacoma Mall: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Kitsap Mall: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
