October: Get Library Card, Enter to Win Kindle Fire HD
The Pierce County Library System is giving away a Kindle Fire HD during its annual library card drive.

The Pierce County Library System is holding its sixth annualΒ library card drive throughout the month of October. When you get a free library card during the drive, you even get to enter to win a Kindle Fire HD.
βThis library is very necessary,β said Amanda Love, mother of six and a Tillicum resident. βIt gives me a connection to my community and I get knowledge, entertainment and see my neighbors all in one happy place.β
Currently 261,000 people have Pierce County Library cards. With the card people get an array of free services, including access to:

- More thanΒ one million books, movies, and CDs.
- Online help in real-time from professionalΒ homework tutorsΒ andΒ job coaches.
- E-books, audiobooksΒ andΒ songsΒ to download.
- Computers.
- Credible, reliable information from onlineΒ e-sourcesβConsumer Reports, Morningstar Investment Research Center and Chilton car repair.
- PassesΒ to Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum and Washington State History Museum.
People who already have a library card may enter the drawing to win a Kindle Fire HD, by bringing a friend to a library and getting them a card. Military personnel and families may enter the drawing by showing their military ID.
Adults and kids canΒ get a card onlineΒ 24/7 or at one of 18Β librariesΒ during open hours. Also, yes, thereβs an app for that. People with smartphones can use a card app from eitherΒ http://keyringapp.com/Β orΒ http://cardstar.com/Β and take their library card everywhere on their phone.

People who live in or own property in unincorporated Pierce County, Bonney Lake, Buckley, DuPont, Eatonville, Edgewood, Fife, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Orting, South Prairie, Steilacoom, Sumner, University Place, or Wilkeson; as well as people who live on a military base, tribal land or national park in the county, can get a free library card. Through a borrowing agreement with Puyallup, Roy and Tacoma Public Libraries, residents in those cities may also get free cards.
