• Pierce County libraries update hours for weekend access (mynorthwest.com) — Gig Harbor’s Pierce County Library will soon expand weekend access, opening 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday starting January 18. The Pierce County Library System is revising hours across all 19 branches to better match community needs and free up staff to offer more services both inside and outside library walls.
   

• More weekend hours, controversial staff changes coming to Pierce Co. libraries (thenewstribune.com) — Pierce County Library System is rolling out new standardized hours on Jan. 18, with the Gig Harbor branch open 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday–Sunday. At the same time, a regional staffing model will group Gig Harbor with Key Center and Steilacoom, meaning some staff will rotate among branches despite community concerns about losing familiar faces.
