• Peninsula High receives national honor from Special Olympics, ESPN for inclusive sports Unified (gigharbornow.org) — Peninsula High School in the Gig Harbor-area Peninsula School District has been named a Special Olympics Unified Champion School, one of only two in Washington, for its inclusive Unified Sports and clubs. The program, which once operated at both Peninsula and Gig Harbor high schools, now invites interested Gig Harbor High students to join teams and activities at Peninsula, where about 55 students are participating this winter.
   

• Pierce Co. oyster bar has been trying to open for 10 years. What's the holdup? (thenewstribune.com) — A long-planned oyster bar overlooking Henderson Bay is stalled after the Gig Harbor City Council unanimously refused to extend city sewer service to the Purdy-area site, citing urban growth limits. The Kingman family has permits mostly in place and has invested heavily in local infrastructure, and they’re now working with Gig Harbor and Pierce County officials to find a lawful sewage solution.
