Peninsula Schools Offering Free Meals For Mid-Winter Break
Families in need of a little extra help can pick up a week's worth of meals for their children on Tuesday, February 16.
GIG HARBOR, WA β School may be out next week, but children will still need to eat.
Mid-Winter break will run from Feb. 15 to 19 β during that time normal meal programs will be suspended, so to help feed children in need, Peninsula School District has set up an alternate meal program.
Next week, on Tuesday, Feb. 16, families in need of support can pick up meal kits at three different schools in the Gig Harbor area: Evergreen Elementary, Purdy Elementary and Gig Harbor High School. Pick up events run from noon to 1:30 p.m. Anyone who visits can receive a meal kit for each child. A meal kit includes enough for six breakfasts and six lunches.

The food is free and there are no questions asked, but to help prepare for the event the school district would like anyone who is interested to take a survey here. They say the results of that survey will help them gauge demand for food, so they can be sure to have enough for everyone who needs it.
