Sinking Vessel In Gig Harbor Causes Small Spill
The fire department, state environment officials, and U.S. Coast Guard were assessing the situation.

GIG HARBOR, WA - The fire department reported Tuesday afternoon that a small boat had sunk in the harbor and had spilled substances into the water, but it's unclear what threat the boat poses. Crews were still enroute to assess the situation.
The fire department said that the state Department of Ecology and the U.S. Coast Guard were responding to the scene. According to the state Department of Natural Resources, there are about 150 derelict boats around the state waiting to be cleaned up.
Last week in King County, authorities responded to a derelict sailboat that broke free from a mooring on Vashon Island and sunk.
