Tacoma Narrows Bridge To See Lane Closures This Weekend
Drivers using the Narrows this weekend are being warned to prepare for backups and delays. Here's what to expect.
GIG HARBOR, WA — Headed over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge this weekend? You'll probably want to plan ahead for some extra travel time, says the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
According to WSDOT's travel advisory, bridge maintenance crews will be closing the two rightmost lanes of westbound SR 6 starting at 6 p.m. this Saturday. The closure will remain in effect through 9 a.m. Sunday.
During that time, crews will be working on critical roadway repairs on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

The closures will run all the way from Pear Street in Tacoma and across the bridge to Gig Harbor. The Pearl Street on-ramp to westbound SR 16 and the Jackson Avenue on- and off-ramps will remain open, however.
The closure assumes that the weather will cooperate— if it doesn't the closure may be postponed. Any pertinent updates on the construction can be found on the WSDOT app or by following WSDOT on Twitter.
