UPDATE: Thursday Election Results

The Pierce Transit and the Peninsula School District's $78 million dollar bond measures are both failing as the third updates are released.

The Pierce County Auditor's Office released its third update from the Feb. 8 special election Thursday afternoon.

Votes to reject the - a proposal to increase taxes to maintain bus and transit service for Pierce Transit -  are still leading with 73,525 votes or 54.29 percent.

Meanwhile, the approval for the 's is leading with a total of 11,653 votes or 57.63 percent. In order to validate the vote, 60 percent of the voters must approve the measure. However, out of a total of 135,666 ballots casted, the auditor's office has only one hundred ballots left to count.

The proposed merger of the Lakewood and University Place Fire Departments was passing with 82 percent of the vote.

The next update is scheduled for 4 p.m., Friday.
