Ten students from Kirkland high schools have been selected as finalists in the <a href="http://www.nationalmerit.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">National Merit Scholarship</a> competition, qualifying them to receive scholarships through the program. These include $2,500 awards, corporate-sponsored scholarships and college-sponsored scholarships. One of the students, Anna Veltkamp of Juanita High, has already secured a corporate scholarship. About 15,000 students nationally have been named finalists.
