Members of the Redmond-based Overlake Composite Squadron received several promotions and recognitions at a state Civil Air Patrol (CAP) conference held April 3 and 4 in Wenatchee.
Civil Air Patrolย is the official auxiliary program of the U.S. Air Force and performs search and rescue, disaster relief and homeland security missions at the request of local, state and federal government agencies.
Theย Overlake Composite Squadronย is made up of 45 cadets and 20 adults who meet every Tuesday evening from 6:45 to 9 p.m. at theย . Throughout the year, squadron members conduct various community service projects while learning about leaderhip, aerospace and engineering.

The following members of the Overlake Composite Squadron were recognized last weekend:
- Capt.ย Michael Holliday (from Kirkland), Unit Commander of the Year, Logistician of the Year
- Sr. Master Sgt.ย Michele Stanish-Walls, Cadet Programs Officer of the Year
- Capt.ย John Hughes, Wing Commander's Commendation
- 2nd Lt.ย Philip Osborn (Kirkland), Public Affairs Officer of the Year
