Barges to Be Used to Clean Sewer Pipes Along Lake Washington Shore

The city and the Northshore Utility District will begin the work Thursday south of Juanita Bay and south of Carillon Point.

KIRKLAND โ€“ย Properties along portions of the Lake Washington shoreline in Kirkland and Kenmore recently received notice from the City of Kirkland and Northshore Utility District (NUD) about a joint project to clean sewer pipes that serve homes and businesses.

Beginning July 19, City and NUD crews will begin to access manholes located in Lake Washington.ย  Because access to the wastewater lake line is limited, a barge carrying equipment, including the Cityโ€™s green educator truck, will be placed along the Lake near affected properties.

Kirkland properties south of adjacent to 10th Street West and 14th Avenue West and south of Carillon Point adjacent to Lake Washington Boulevard from the 5200 block to approximately the 4400 block of Lake Washington Boulevard will be affected the by project.

Once Kirklandโ€™s sewer lines are clean, the barge will continue to shoreline properties in Kenmore that are serviced by the NUD. The project is expected to be complete by July 26, 2012.ย  Maps of the Kirkland project area are posted on the city web site here:ย News Room.
