Cops Corral Man Swinging Pipes; Jaywalking Skater Nearly Hit By Squad Car

Other Kirkland police cases include two pinched on felony warrants, burglaries and thefts.

The following are selected case reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of Aug. 6-10.

Aug. 6

  • After being found drunk and lying on the ground at the transit center on Third Street downtown with blood on his nose and mouth at about 10 p.m., say police, an 18-year-old Issaquah man refused to cooperate. Witnesses claimed the manโ€™s injuries were inflicted by another person who was defending himself. The Issaquah man was treated by aid personnel and slept it off in the Kirkland Jail on liquor violation charges.ย 

Aug. 7

  • After reportedly creating a disturbance at in the Totem Lake area at about 9 p.m. and refusing to leave, a 31-year-old Kirkland woman was arrested by police on trespass charges.

  • Police arrested a 24-year-old Kirkland man on a federal, no-bail felony warrant after stopping him outside his motherโ€™s apartment on NE 130th Lane in Juanita at about 10:45 p.m. He claimed he was unaware he was being sought by U.S. marshals.
  • After allegedly ripping two metal poles from the ground at on Rose Hill, a 26-year-old Kenmore man was spotted at 3 a.m. shirtless and swinging the poles and damaging property in the nearby parking lot on NE 85th. He was arrested on charges of malicious mischief and disorderly conduct.
  • A 21-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on two outstanding warrants after apparently riding his skateboard against a crosswalk signal in the 11000 block of NE 124th Avenue on Rose Hill and nearly being run over by a police patrol car. The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m.
  • A purse with credit cards, $70 cash and a $50 gift card was stolen overnight from a vehicle at the NE 103rd Place residence in north Juanita of a 42-year-old woman. She told police she had left her garage door open, the vehicle unlocked and her purse on the passenger seat.
  • A lakefront resident on Rose Point Lane on Juanita Bay told police that someone on the afternoon of July 30 stole a 10-foot folding row boat with oars, value about $1,600, from his private dock.ย 

Aug. 9

  • Police say they saw a 26-year-old Kirkland man littering along the railroad tracks in Houghton at about 10:30 a.m., and found he had an outstanding felony warrant out of King County. He was taken to the Kirkland Jail, and released after he paid bail of $135 on the charge of criminal attempt.ย 
  • The lock on a storage unit on 8th Street downtown was cut overnight and a metal box with 2,000 rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition was stolen, the 43-year-old victim from Seattle reported to police. No fingerprints were found and no suspect identified. ย

  • The manager at the store on NE 132d in north Juanita reported to police that someone early that morning had used a bolt cutter to remove a lock and steal 12 propane tanks worth about $340.
  • Police served a 32-year-old Everett man with a trespass order after he tried to walk out of a bar on 122nd Avenue NE on Rose Hill at about 6:30 p.m. without paying a $40 tab. The bar manager, who did not seek restitution, confronted the man outside and helped hold him until police arrived.
