Diwali Celebration Comes to Redmond Oct. 22

Event will include cultural displays, children's activities, traditional food and more.

Members of the public are invited to commemorate Diwali, a Hindu celebration known as the "festival of lights," at the from noon to 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. The free event will be hosted by BAPS-Seattle, a nonprofit Hindu organization.

This year's festival, dubbed "Diwali 2011-Experience the Culture of India," will feature cultural displays, live performances, children's activities and more.

The event will also include a grand Annakut displayโ€”a religious offering of more than 300 types of food.
