Eagles Still Tending to Nest at Heritage Park
Kirkland's resident pair of bald eagles remain focused on their nest in a big fir tree, but so far there's no sign of eaglets.
A visit to in downtown Kirkland Friday showed the city's resident pair of bald eagles still tending to their nest in a large, old Douglas fir tree. Although the pair perched together atop the tree at times, one of them spent considerable time in the nest, as it has most often in recent visits.
But there was no sign of chicks. Kirkland Parks employee Rose Wessels, who works at the park, said she recently saw a juvenile eagle with the mature pair. But she wasn't sure if it was one that hatched this year or not, or if any have hatched this year.ย "I'm hopeful," she said.ย
At any rate, the eagles remain, and we'll keep watching. Enjoy the photos!
