Group Rallies at Evergreen Hospital in Support of Full Midwifery Program
Local mothers and families are hoping the hospital will take on a full-time midwifery program after a private practice that offered its service there lost much of its staff.
Mothers, babies and a few dads rallied outside of in Kirkland Tuesday evening in an effort to convince the medical center's board of commissioners and administration to take on a full midwifery program, lost recently when a private practice reduced its service there.
The group, which has launched a petition drive and a Facebook page, planned to follow the rally by speaking during the board's regular November meeting. Many in the group are mothers who have delivered babies at the hospital and fear losing a full service midwifery program as an option for Eastside expectant mothers.
