Help Salmon in Juanita Creek at Oct. 8 Work Party

The Green Kirkland Partnership is mounting an effort to remove invasive plants and mulch around native vegetation.

Juanita Creek represents runs to Kirkland's several small streams, and the city is calling out for volunteers to help in that effort on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Green Kirkland Partnership will lead a work party to remove invasive plants that provide little habitat for native fish and wldlife, and then mulch around native vegetation in an area just upstream of Juanita Drive.

The parternship is a joint effort by the city and the Cascade Land Conservancy, with an ambitious goal of restoring 372 acres of natural areas in Kirkland over 20 years.
