Kangs Drop Season-Opener to Rival Redmond, 10-7

But Lake Washington shows some power at the plate with three home runs.

The Lake Washington High School boys baseball team showed some power at the plate with three home runs, but dropped its season-opener Saturday after Redmond scored seven runs in the fifth inning to win 10-7.

Theo Alexander cranked a three-run shot in the top of the fifth and scored two runs, while Bob Cruikshank and Zach Johnson also put pitches over the fence at Redmondโ€™s Hartman Park for the Kangaroos.

The Mustangsโ€™ Zach Abruzza went three-for-four at the plate, with a double, a homer and four RBIs.

The Kangs now head to Tucson, Ariz., to play in the Chris Moon Memorial Classic. Theyโ€™ll play five games, with the opener set for Wednesday against Tucsonโ€™s Ironwood Ridge High School.
