Kids Concert at Marina Park; Chamber Networking Luncheon

- The cityโs Civil Service Commission meets at 4 p.m. at . The commission meets the second Tuesday of each month.
- The Kirkland Senior Council meets at 5:30 p.m. at the . The council also meets the second Tuesday of each month.
- The Kirkland is holding a membership luncheon at the at Carillon Point. The topic? A networking extravaganza. The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon is $30 for chamber members and $35 for non-members.
- Grab the kids and donโt forget the tutus! The Not-Its will be rockinโ with oft tutu-clad lead singer Sarah Shannon at 10 a.m. Shannon is the former lead singer of the 90โs band Velocity Girl (signed to Seattleโs Sub Pop label). This childrenโs concert is part of the Kirkland Summer Concert Series, from July 5 to Aug. 25.
- Whether you are a seasoned astronomer or an amateur stargazer, the Perseid meteor shower is not to be missed. While the peak of the shower is expected to fall on Aug. 13, so does the full moon, diminishing the meteors from view. So tonight is the night, if skies are clear. The best time for viewing is between 2 a.m. and sunrise tomorrow morning. Throw a blanket down in the backyard and prepare to be awestruck by potentially 15 to 20 meteors an hour.
