Kirkland Pedestrian, 78, Dies After Hit By SUV

KIRKLAND, WA -- A 78-year-old woman died last weekend after being hit by an SUV in Kirkland. The city said the woman, whose name was not released, died Saturday following the crash.

The incident happened Friday on northeast 68th Street near northeast 112th Avenue where the woman crossed the street. The SUV reportedly hit the woman who became trapped under the vehicle.

She was later extricated by emergency crews and transported to Harborview Medical Center, police said.

Police said the driver of the SUV is cooperating with the investigation and there's no indication that alcohol or drugs caused the wreck. The case remains under investigation.
