Kirkland Performance Center Hosting Hot Rocks Award Show

Things you might want to know today, Friday, April Fool's Day, 2011.

  • The sun rises at 6:48 a.m. and sets at 7:39 p.m.
  • Happy April Fool's Day! Mark Twain's take: "This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the other three hundred and sixty-four."
  • hosts the Hot Rocks Awards Show, with 50 Northwest bands nominated in 13 categories. Peforming are Blue Thunder, Mindflow and, hmmm, a few "surprises." Tickets are $15; the rockin' starts at 9 pm.
  • More entertainment tonight: Funnyman Anthony Jeselnik, late of the Jimmies Fallon and Kimmel and Conan O'Brien shows, not to mention Comedy Central, stands up twice at up on 124th, 8 and 10 p.m., each $15... The Seattle-based acoustic-oriented Robert Stewart Band, formerly Fiasco, will rock the downtown, 9 p.m., $5... Late September Dogs play an unplugged gig at the in Totem Lake. We hear they're plenty good -- 9 p.m., free.
