KPD BLOTTER: Skinny Dippers Busted at Juanita Beach

In other cases, an irate transient gets arrested for trespass and two residents on north Rose Hill report thefts.

The following are selected case reports from the Kirkland Police Department for the period of Aug. 19-23.

Aug. 19

  • Shortly after 2 a.m. police discovered skinny dipping at Juanita Beach Park on Juanita Drive six youths 16-17 years old, and arrested four of them, all 17, for under-aged liquor violations. Those arrested were three males from Woodinville and elsewhere in King County and one female from Redmond. The two 16-year-olds were from Kirkland. All were taken to the police station at and released to their parents.
  • A 50-year old man from the 8200 block of 124th Ave NE on north Rose Hill reported to police that on the afternoon of July 23, a $2,300 paddle board that had been delivered to his door step was stolen.



Aug. 22

  • A 67-year-old woman from Redmond reported that some time overnight, someone stole 24 inches of quarter-inch copper tubing from a building in the 12000 block of 116th Avenue NE ย in the Totem Lake area.

  • Police arrested a 19-year-old Kirkland man on third-degree theft charges after he was detained by security at the Juanita store on 100th Avenue at 6:45 p.m. for leaving without paying for some hot food.
  • Someone stole a bicycle, shop vac, air compressor, three car batteries, battery charger and tools between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. from the front yard of a residence on 126th Ave. NE on north Rose Hill, reported the 49-year-old resident. Police were not able to gather any information on a suspect.
  • A 27-year-old transient told police that some time in the early morning hours someone stole from his room in the Totem Lake area his iPhone and Bose headphones. Perhaps not coincidentally, that evening police arrested for trespassing a 27-year-old transient at the same motel. Motel employees reported that the man was verbally abusive and refused to leave. He in turn claimed unfair treatment, but was arrested after repeated warnings when he would not leave.
