Lake Washington District Schools Closed Due to Winter Storm Warning
The city of Kirkland urges residents to prepare, and public works crews are ready to implement priority road clearing.
All Lake Washington School District schools are closed today and activities are canceled, and the city of Kirkland is urging residents and businesses to prepare for snow and low temperatures because of a winter storm warming issued by the National Weather Service.
Although no snow was falling early this morning, forecasters were predicting possible accumulations of 1 to 3 inches today and 2 to 4 inches tonight. The weather is expected to ease on Thursday.
Kirkland officials were urging residents to check their commute routes before leaving their homes and make sure they had emergency supplies on hand.

If snow does accumulate on the streets, the city plans to give top priority to clearing roads near Evergreen Hospital Medical Center and those leading to and from Interstate 405, transit routes and fire stations.
Second priority is given to arterials with above normal traffic use. Steeper roads that are tough to maintain will be closed. To see a road priority map and other emergency information, see www.ci.kirland.wa.us/emergency.
