Lake Washington Whips Juanita 7-3

Kangs' Victor Mayorquin has another good night at the plate, with two hits and two RBIs.

scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed as the Kangs beat cross-town rival 7-3 at Peter Kirk Park in Kirkland Monday night.

Victor Mayorquin, one of the LW offensive leaders, went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs as the Kangs scattered 11 hits. Kory Kohwles and Zach Jonson each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Lake Washington.

Kangs starter Wesley Russell pitched six innings, giving up seven hits and three runs while striking out five.

"Wes did what we asked him to do," said LW coach Derek Bingham. "He didn't walk a batter and he had the plate dialed in. ย We helped him defensively with some good plays in the field."

JJ Caldwell went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Rebels.

Lake Washington is now 5-5 on the season with a 3-1 record in the KingCo 3A Conference and next plays Interlake on Wednesday at Peter Kirk Parkโ€™s Lee Johnson Field, 7 p.m. Juanita (1-6/1-2) travels to Bellevue Wednesday to pay the Wolverines, 4 p.m.
