Open House, Hearing to Address Lakeview, Central Houghton Neighborhood Plans
Draft plans will shape how the neighborhoods grow over the next 20-plus years.

A complete update of the Lakeview and Central Houghton neighborhood plans will be the focus of an open house and public hearing Thursday at .
The hearing will serve as a joint meeting by the Kirkland Planning Commission and the Houghton Community Council. Here is the agenda.
The draft plans will update for the first time in years - since 1985 in the case of the Lakeview plan -- they cityโs and communitiesโ vision of how the two neighborhoods will grow over the next 20-plus years.
They deal with issues such as allowable building heights, how many residences may be built per acre, and the types of uses -- retail, office or residential -- allowed in commercial areas.
Both will be incorporated in the city of Kirklandโs comprehensive plan when approved. You can view the documents on the Central Houghton plan here and for the Lakeview plan here and here.
The open house is from 5-7 p.m., with the hearing following at 7 p.m., in the council chambers.
