Open House, Hearing to Address Lakeview, Central Houghton Neighborhood Plans

Draft plans will shape how the neighborhoods grow over the next 20-plus years.

A complete update of the Lakeview and Central Houghton neighborhood plans will be the focus of an open house and public hearing Thursday at .

The hearing will serve as a joint meeting by the Kirkland Planning Commission and the Houghton Community Council. Here is the agenda.

The draft plans will update for the first time in years - since 1985 in the case of the Lakeview plan -- they cityโ€™s and communitiesโ€™ vision of how the two neighborhoods will grow over the next 20-plus years.

They deal with issues such as allowable building heights, how many residences may be built per acre, and the types of uses -- retail, office or residential -- allowed in commercial areas.

Both will be incorporated in the city of Kirklandโ€™s comprehensive plan when approved. You can view the documents on the Central Houghton plan here and for the Lakeview plan here and here.

The open house is from 5-7 p.m., with the hearing following at 7 p.m., in the council chambers.
