Almost Sign-Up Time for Kirkland Pee Wee Soccer

This Parks and Rec league for ages 3-6 focuses on fundamentals of the game, making friends and sportsmanship.

Kirkland Parks and Rec is looking for kids 3 to 6 and volunteer coaches for its Pee Wee Soccer League, which is signing up players now and will hit the field starting April 30.

โ€œThis league is pretty much about understanding the fundamentals of soccer,โ€ said NeSha Thomas, a parks and rec coordinator. โ€œWe promote socialization โ€“ making friends โ€“ and sportsmanship. We donโ€™t keep score.โ€

There are two divisions, ages 3 to 4 and 5 to 6. The season is six weeks long and games โ€“ 40 minutes long preceded by 20 minutes of practice -- are played at the BEST High School field in Houghton. The cost is $60, and the kids gets a T-shirt, and at the end of the season, a medal.
