Sleep Country Stores Collecting Coats for Foster Children

The Totem Lake and Redmond stores, along with all Sleep Country stores, are now accepting coats for kids in local foster care.

Long chilly winters and blustery rainy days make staying dry with raincoats and warm jackets a necessity for Pacific Northwest residents. Unfortunately, many foster children donโ€™t have a proper coat to keep them bundled up and cozy during the cooler months and often outgrow their jackets before foster families can replace them. Sleep Countryโ€™s USA annual coat drive for foster kids is one way to keep children warm this winter.

Sleepย Countryย USA is hosting its annual Coat Drive for Foster Kids now through Oct. 30. With more than 10,000 Northwest children entering foster care each year, the small donation of one warm coat can make a big difference in the everyday lives of these children.

Coats can be dropped off at the , or Overlake Sleep Country during regular store hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The mattress companyโ€™s school supplies for foster kids program collected more than 56,000 items for Northwest students. It was Sleep Country USAโ€™s most successful school supply drive, according to Tanya Mahr, communications spokesperson for the company.

โ€œThanks to community donations at...stores throughout Oregon and Washington, a partnership with Wild Waves Theme Park to collect items for discount admission at two Wild Waves Days for Foster Families this summer, and local businesses such as Regence of Tacoma and Burlington that hosted their own collection drives, this wasย Sleepย Countryโ€™s most successful school supply drive yet,โ€ Mahr said.

Sleepย Countryย distributed the items among its foster children organizationย partners throughout the region. ย
