Strike Update: Local 117 Submits Proposal to Waste Management

The strike at Kirkland-based Waste Management that continued Monday, but a company spokesman said there is some possible movement.
Robin Freedman, a representative of Waste Management, said Mondya morning that Teamsters Local 117, which represents the workers, submitted a proposal late Sunday night, and the company is currently reviewing that proposal.

Meanwhile, Waste Management has brought , planning to focus Monday on commercial pickups in its coverage area.
Waste Management said it is also arranging to hire qualified local replacement drivers it identified in a job fair last month.

For those who wish to haul their own trash, King County transfer stations are open, but the county warned residents on its website that they could face picket lines and traffic disruptions at transfer stations as the strike continues.
