I-5 Vehicle Fire Blocks Traffic In Lakewood

No one was injured by the fire, but the blaze will cause lingering backups in the area, troopers say.

LAKEWOOD, WA — A vehicle fire has blocked two lanes of southbound I-5 in the Lakewood area.

The closure was first reported around 6:15 p.m. and is near the intersection with 96th St S.

The fire is out and no one was injured.

According to Washington State patrol Trooper Robert Reyer, Central Pierce Fire and WSDOT Tacoma have crews on scene, and it will likely be some time before the lanes are reopened. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible, or expect delays if heading southbound.
