JBLM Celebrates 100,000+ Vaccines Administered

The combined efforts of Madigan, I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing have paid off, the base said.

LAKEWOOD, WA — More than 100,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

To celebrate the occasion, the base is thanking Madigan, and it's partners the I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing, for their tireless work administering vaccines over the past seven and a half months.

"We mark a milestone in our battle against COVID-19 as we recognize that 100,000 doses of vaccine have been distributed on Joint Base Lewis-McChord," said Col. Paul Faestel, Acting Director, JBLM Department of Public Health at Madigan. "As we spend time with friends and family, let's not forget to pay tribute to the Soldiers, Airmen and civilians who have worked so hard in reaching this goal."

The vaccine rollout began at JBLM in December 2020. Since then, vaccines have been distributed at the base's American Lake Conference Center, the McChord drive-thru, and at the JBLM Lewis Main Exchange, which hosts a walk-in vaccine clinic.

Despite reaching the six-figure milestone, those sites will remain open for anyone who still needs to get their doses, Madigan said.

"The COVID-19 vaccine remains the safest and most effective method of protecting yourself from severe COVID-19 illness, and we urge you to consider the benefits of vaccination," said Faestel. "We celebrate this milestone, but our work is not done, and we will continue to vaccinate all who want it."
