Lakewood's Community Cleanup Is This Weekend

Got any extra junk lying around you want to ditch? Well, Lakewood has just the event for you.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Lakewood residents who need to dispose of that extra junk lying around the house have the perfect opportunity this weekend.

The City of Lakewood's biannual Community Cleanup is this weekend, and the city is inviting Lakewood residents to come down and drop off trash— as long as they follow some stricter guidelines to keep the event moving.

The event will be held at 3869 94th Street SW, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 and Sunday, Nov. 7.

According to the city, the last Community Cleanup in Spring was pretty painful, so they'll be strictly enforcing some new rules to get cars in and out as quickly as possible.

  • Lakewood residents only: you'll be asked to present a bill, ID, or other proof of residence.
  • A 5-minute time limit to unload.
  • No box vans or vehicles over 7 feet tall.
  • Residential waste only, no commercial waste will be accepted.
  • Bag all loose items.

Organizers also ask that everyone wear a mask and safe shoes, and be prepared in advance to unload your own trash and back your vehicle up a steep ramp.

They also warn that the event will only accept bagged items, tires, bicycles, furniture, grills appliances, couches and recyclables. They will not take loose items, paint, yard waste, construction waste, lumber, mattresses concrete, auto parts or other hazardous materials.
