• Pierce County libraries update hours for weekend access (mynorthwest.com) — If you use the Lakewood Pierce County Library, mark January 18 on your calendar: the branch will stay open later on weekdays and gain more weekend hours, including full Friday–Sunday days. The countywide schedule revamp is meant to better match community demand and free up resources so staff can focus more on programs and services residents actually use.

• More weekend hours, controversial staff changes coming to Pierce Co. libraries (thenewstribune.com) — Lakewood residents will see new Pierce County Library hours starting January 18, with the Lakewood branch open later on weekdays and expanded weekend access. The system is also reorganizing staff into regional teams, a move drawing concern from some communities but intended to save money and share specialized services across branches. No layoffs are planned so far, though union talks continue.
