Tacoma-Lakewood Named 10th Fastest Growing Metro In U.S.

LAKEWOOD, WA -- -- The greater Tacoma-Lakewood region was named the tenth fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation. The annual list delivered by Forbes magazine considers different variables when compiling its list including population, wages and economic output.

The region saw a 1.92 percent population growth in the last year, with a 1.32 percent growth expected for 2018. Jobs grew by 2.83 percent in 2017 with projected job growth at 2.5 percent for 2018.

GMP growth stood at 4.4 percent, wage growth at 1.08 percent and home price growth at 12.74 percent in the last year.

The magazine predicts that wages will increase by a whopping 6.44 percent this year.

The greater Seattle area was named the second fastest growing metropolitan area in the U.S.

Boise City, Idaho topped the list of the fastest growing cities in the country. Rounding out the top five list was Dallas, Orlando and Fort Worth.
