Help Find Max, the Mercerwood Cat

Max, an unusually colored light orange Abyssinian feline well-known in the Mercerwood neighborhood, was reported lost around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25.

He was last seen after eating a big lunch in a wooded area near the north-end of the 96th Ave. SE cul-de-sac, close to his Mercerwood neighborhood home.

Max's owners, David Wilborn & Jessica Prince, are offering a generous $200 reward for Max's safe return.

Max comes to whistling, LOVEs turkey and will come to that any time. He doesn’t wear a collar, but he is chipped.

Max will boldly go into any house, even if there is another cat or dog inside and just take over, eating the dog food and sleeping in its crate. Wilborn said that he believes the cat may be held up in someone’s garage or in a spare room. He has been known to be found sleeping in beds that are “just right.”

"We are his third owner because his rapturous exuberance for life often gets him into situations," write his owners. "We found him pounding (once) on our window to let him in as if he’d always been coming in our house and we forgot to leave the door open. If he could fly, he’d be the bare-foot cat."

According to them, the has been called at least five times to rescue Max from the top of telephone poles, tree tops after getting stuck for five days, and crawling up drain pipes. He's even bitten by raccoons – makes him a bit much to handle and won’t stay inside if he can help it.

Please contact David Wilborn & Jessica Prince if a cat resembling "Max" is spotted in your neighborhood — or house — at 206-372-5944.
