Community Snapshot: Polar Bear Plunge 2013
About 40 swimmers of all ages waded in or leapt off the swimming pier at Clarke Beach to ring in the new year.
About 40 thrill seekers waded in or jumped off the swimming pier at Clarke Beach Park and into the chilly waters of Lake Washington on Tuesday for the 46th annual Polar Bear Plunge on Mercer Island.
According to participants, the water temperature was measured at a brisk 46F at noon when the plunge began, but the bright sunshine and absence of wind lessened the chill.
