Harborview Medical Center Ranked No. 4 in Washington State by U.S. News & World Report
The publication's annual hospital ranking considers patient death rates and physician surveys, among other factors.

Harborview Medical Center in Seattle has been ranked No. 4 in Washington state as part of U.S. News & World Report's annual Best Hospitals survey.
Harborview, along with Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, are two hospitals used frequently by residents from Mercer Island.
The publication says its rankings were devised using patient death rates and physician surveys, among other factors. Nearly 4,800 hospitals around the nation were evaluated in 16 medical specialties, and the facilities designated as high performing in at least one of these areas were ranked at the state or regional level.
Here is what U.S. News & World Report had to say about Harborview:
"Harborview Medical Center is a general medical and surgical hospital in Seattle, WA. It performed nearly at the level of nationally ranked U.S. News Best Hospitals in 9 adult specialties, as shown below. Harborview Medical Center has 413 beds. The hospital had 19,879 admissions in the latest year for which data are available. It performed 10,603 annual inpatient and 4,630 outpatient surgeries. Its emergency room had 61,307 visits. Harborview Medical Center is a teaching hospital. It is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)."
University of Washington Medical Center topped the list for Washington state, followed by Kirkland's EvergreenHealth and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane, both ranked at No. 2. Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane and Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle were each ranked No. 5.
